El Niño

The vibrant Caribbean colors of director Lileana Blain-Cruz’s production of El Niño surround the figure of the burning girl carrying the Christmas star.

Fire Shut Up In My Bones

The opera Fire Shut Up In My Bones by Terence Blanchard is the story of a young man who has endured a traumatic childhood. The graphic I chose shows the young man surrounded by the fire that he has experienced.

The Forza Bunny Death Mask

Inspired by the bunny-masked dancers in our new production of La Forza del Destino comes Bunny Death Mask graphic which is available in all the usual formats plus a long sleeve T-shirt created especially for the wonderful dancers!

La Bohème and Toulouse-Lautrec

To match the style of Zeffirelli's La Bohème I worked toward getting an image of Rodolfo and Mimi from the third act outside of the inn, with the snow falling on her last year. She is pale and he holds her tenderly, with the lights of Paris reflected in the glass. The featured style and font is art nouveaux, in particular that of Toulouse-Lautrec from the late 19oos.

Tannhäuser and Bosch

The image for Tannhäuser was inspired by a mash up between the tenor Andreas Schager as Tannhäuser and a Venusberg full of the hellish horrors that inhabit the mind of the medieval painter Hieronymus Bosch. Incredibly AI can assemble these hellish images on the fly!

Malcolm X Graphic

By far the most popular t-shirts this Fall has been the X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X t-shirt. All of the graphics are created with the help of AI and this particular image was the combination of a reference photo of Malcolm X and the artistic style of Andy Warhol. The font used was a copy of the font used for the Black Panther publication from the time. Every AI image is unique and not copyrighted.

A New Kind of Premiere!

I am very excited to pick up the reins of backstage merch production! It has been a number of years since we have had t-shirts, hoodies, jackets (I'm getting ahead of myself) for the members of the Met's backstage artists and crew. I am introducing some improvements on the older style t-shirts by providing a website with more choices of colors, styles, and products. The concepts that I create for the merch are like album art and features aspects of the opera and members of the cast. AI is helping blend these concepts together! I hope you enjoy and use what MyMetMerch.com has to offer and wear it proudly!
